Design Concept:
This artwork features an elegant oval-shaped form with an open top. Inside, the intricate carvings draw inspiration from the dragon motifs seen on Qing Dynasty imperial thrones. The flowing, curved structure evokes the image of the vault of the heavens, where two dragons face each other, their front claws collectively lifting a dragon pearl. This symbolizes the auspicious scene of "Two Dragons Offering the Pearl," representing protection, prosperity, and the achievement of success in one’s endeavors. The dragons are simplified and abstracted, their forms expressed through smooth, flowing lines. Their heads and tails connect seamlessly, forming a perfect circle at the center. In feng shui, this design promotes the flow and accumulation of positive energy (qi). The narrow top gathers energy, while the body of the sculpture holds and balances it. The symmetrical dragons embody harmony and equilibrium, symbolizing the Confucian principle of "Ren" (benevolence)—the ultimate expression of care and balance in human relationships. The liuli sculpture merges cultural symbolism and contemporary artistry, reflecting themes of balance, success, and spiritual harmony. Its fluid shape and intricate detailing celebrate traditional Chinese heritage while offering a modern interpretation of timeless ideals.
