The person giving the gift feels proud, and the recipient feels joyous." Founder Chang Yi was deeply moved by the craftsmanship when he first saw this embroidery from Jiangning Weaving Bureau, a prominent imperial textile production facility in China between the 18-20th century.

The scenery changes with each glance; every petal's color varies with each look, featuring stitches of pale yellow and pale green that create rich layers of leaves. Each thread is of a different color, appearing to follow a certain pattern. From afar, it looks like a majestic peony flower. This beautiful and romantic encounter has allowed LIULI Crystal Art to bloom beautiful peonies wherever it goes.

The Legend of the Peony

According to legend, Wu Zetian (624–705 CE), a notable figure in Chinese history, known for being the only female emperor in Chinese history, was admiring the snow in the imperial garden and saw red plum blossoms blooming in the snow. In her intoxication, she had a sudden idea and wished to see all the flowers competing for beauty in the snow. So, she wrote, "Tomorrow morning, all flowers must bloom. Bloom overnight, do not wait for the morning breeze."

After writing, she ordered the palace maid to burn the order and inform the Flower God. Fearing Wu Zetian's authority, the Flower God made all the flowers bloom early, except for the peony, which stood proud and unyielding, believing that blooming had its own timing.

The next morning, all the flowers bloomed beautifully in the garden, and the civil and military officials came to admire them. Wu Zetian was also very happy. Suddenly, she noticed the peony had not bloomed, and in anger, she ordered all the peonies in Chang'an City, the capital of Tang Dynasty, to be burned. In an instant, the peonies were reduced to ashes. Later, Wu Zetian exiled the peony to the remote Mount Mang in Luoyang. Unexpectedly, once the peony was in new soil, the following spring, the mountains were lush and green, and the flowers bloomed in full. From then on, Luoyang's peonies became famous worldwide.

LIULI Crystal Art chose the peony as its identifying symbol not only because of its splendid beauty but also because it is the king of flowers, symbolizing a proud, unyielding character that blooms and fragrances on its own.
