Auspicious Summit – Taiwan Sambar Deer A Symbol of Good Luck In Chinese, the word deer “Lu” is homonymous with the word “Lu” meaning the three words of good omen: “Fu, Lu, Shou”. A hundred deer gathered together is regarded as “abundant wealth”. “Auspicious Summit” comes from the highly limited collection “Believe and You shall See”—a series of four artworks that pay homage to LIULI art studio’s humble roots in the rich land of Taiwan. The elusive Sambar Deer depicted here is endemic only to the island, and its numbers are signs of thriving wildlife. The deer’s coat changes colors with the seasons; hence the interesting blend of crystal colors in the artwork. The technical mastery of this collection can be seen in the delicate sculpting of the deer’s antlers, achievable only with immense precision. Despite the challenges, a resounding statement on natural beauty and faith in the beauty of the world rings clear with this artwork—If you believe, then you will most certainly see. |
